Martha N. (Williams) Dixson, 78 of Worcester, passed away in her home on Friday, September 6, 2024.
Martha was born in Guntersville, Alabama, a daughter of the late Robert Williams, Sr. and Gladys (Mavis) Williams. She worked as a housekeeper for UMass Memorial Hospital for 26 years retiring in 2010.
Martha will be remembered for her strong spirit, her determination, and her maternal instinct. She was the rock of her family and a beacon of support for anyone in need. She loved to cook and never failed to provide a meal every year during the holidays. She also had a strong sense of humor, loved to listen to music, and loved to go shopping. She was deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
Martha’s husband, Bennie Dixson passed away in 2010. She is survived by her six children, Dorothy L. Williams, Davida Smith, Judy C. Williams, Clarence E. “Pete” Williams, Claudette Flores and Marsha Williams all of Worcester; two step-children, Meshia Coates and Bennie Coates both of Worcester; three sons-in-law, Michael Smith of Worcester, Rawle Sampson, Sr. of New Jersey and Jose Flores of Worcester; seventeen grandchildren, Brittney Smith, Travis Burrell, Rawle Sampson, Jr., Stephanie Smith, Shaquill Burrell, Davida Williams, Nazarai Flores, Dezarai Flores, Tre-zik Williams, Antonio Flores, Elijuan Berry, Judavia Flores, Zekorah Graves, Nathaniel Williams, Quentin Smith, Isabella Williams and Ella Mason; eight great grandchildren, Travis, Jr., Sammy, Ty, Jr., Jasper, Amoure, Lyla, Cyrus, and Ryah; three brothers, Robert Williams, Jr. of Worcester, Paul Williams of Dayton, OH and David Williams of Dayton, OH; a sister, Thelma Green of Dayton, OH; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Ray Williams and three sisters, Margaret Taylor, Mary McClendon and Ann Carter.
Services for Martha will be held on Wednesday, September 18th with calling hours from 9-11 am and her funeral service at 11:00 am in Belmont AME Zion Church, 55 Illinois St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
