It is with a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Mark C. Correia, 58, of Douglas, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Born in Worcester on September 25, 1967, Mark was the son of Richard and Mary (Taraskieviwcz) Correia from Shrewsbury, MA.
Mark fully enjoyed life and had a genuine passion for meeting new people and hearing their unique stories. Above all else, he valued spending quality time with those he loved. Mark was truly proud of his daughter, Erin Grace, who was his greatest joy. As a father, Mark was the greatest source of guidance, strength, and unconditional love to his daughter. She could always turn to him for advice, knowing he would help her navigate her way. In many ways, they grew up together, learning from life and one another as their bond became stronger through every season. After the loss of her mother, they leaned on each other, grieved together, and slowly began to heal together. The relationship they had was deeply special, and she will forever be grateful to have called him not only her father, but also one of her best friends.
Mark was gifted with two incredible chapters of love in his life. He was preceded in death in 2018 by his adored wife of 22 years, Cynthia (Danahey) of Douglas, MA, with whom he built his beautiful family. In his later years, he was blessed to find love again with his beloved partner, Nicole, who brought immense joy, laughter, and companionship to his days. Together, Mark and Nicole loved traveling and exploring new places, embracing new adventures and learning together. They shared quality time, created moments filled with endless laughter, and built an enduring friendship. Mark beautifully enriched Nicole’s life with his unwavering kindness, caring heart, intelligence, and wonderful sense of humor.
Mark enjoyed a long and successful 32-year career with National Grid, working in multiple locations in and around the metering department. Throughout his tenure, he brought his dedication to various roles, including serving in Quality Assurance and Quality Control as well as Employee and Labor Relations, before stepping into his most recent position as Manager of Gas and Electric Customer Metering Services. Along the way, he formed countless lasting friendships with colleagues who were fortunate to know and work alongside him. To Mark, National Grid was more than just a workplace; it was a career he was deeply proud of and genuinely loved. His pride in his work was evident to everyone who knew him. Even outside of work, he could often be found wearing his National Grid gear, a true reflection of the dedication and passion he had for the people, the company, and the work he did. Mark was looking forward to retiring in the next few years and was eager to spend more time traveling to new locations with Nicole.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by his cherished daughter, Erin Correia of Malden, MA; his beloved partner, Nicole Hamel of Berlin, MA; his brother, Brian Correia and his wife, Allison, of Ponce Inlet, FL; his sister, Lynn Lagace and her husband, Mark, of Auburn, MA; and his brother, Wayne Correia of Shrewsbury, MA; along with his loving nieces. Though Mark’s journey on earth has ended, his bright spirit lives on in our hearts, guiding and inspiring us in all that we do.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mark on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. Family and friends are invited to gather to share time, stories, and memories beginning at 3:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
