Marion C. (Gentile) Biando, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 29, 2024 after a period of declining health.
Marion, born in Worcester, was one of nine children born to Italian Immigrants Matteo and Mariangela (DePasquale) Gentile. She grew up in the Italian neighborhood of Shrewsbury Street, graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Junior College. As most Italian families, Marion grew up helping her parents with their family business, Gentile’s Bakery. She also raised a family, owned and operated a real estate business, Biando Reality, served as a justice of the peace, was a licensed Pharmacy Technician working for her nephew Vincent Pusateri at First Aid Pharmacy, the Fallon Clinic and CVS before retiring in 2008. Marion lived in Worcester, Shrewsbury, Auburn and spent the winters in Pompano Beach Florida.
Marion was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Robert J. Biando, who she was married to for 41 years, and who passed away in 2001. She is survived by her two devoted sons, Wayne J. Biando and his life partner Lori Pepka of Auburn, and Robert M. Biando and his life partner Katerina Bernat of Webster. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who she loved dearly. As the last of her siblings, she is joint in heaven by her brothers, Michael J. and Louis J. Gentile, sisters, Vincenza Pusateri, Antoinette DiRoberto, Frances Gerardi, Josephine Gentile, Anna Perro and Mary Gingras.
Marion was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the American Business Women’s Association, where she was awarded “Woman of the year honors”, the Republican State Committee and a former member of the Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy. Marion was a woman who lived her live to the fullest. Her energy, passion and zest for life was infectious and admired by all who knew her. She was a proud Italian, and her strong Italian heritage translated into everything she did. From the way she cooked, entertained, and celebrated life and she made sure to proudly pass on all the traditions to her family. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with the family, and her favorite holiday was Christmas.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 3rd from 10:30 am to 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding in procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, where her funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name can be made to Our Lady of Mt Carmel parish, 37 Massasoit Road, Worcester 01604.
