Maria Josefina “Pina” Villatoro, 86, of Worcester, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Born in La Unión, El Salvador, on March 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Florentin Villatoro and Rosa Candida Reyes. Pina immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life for her family, bringing with her a deep-rooted faith, a gentle heart, and a tireless devotion to those she loved.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Nercy Figueroa, and her son-in-law, Jeffrey W. Figueroa; her beloved granddaughters, Ariana S. Figueroa and Nercy Yetcelies Figueroa; and her cherished siblings: Leopoldo Villatoro and his wife Jessica, Óscar Villatoro and his wife Adela, Freddy Villatoro and his wife Mirian, and Carlos Villatoro and his wife Lorena. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Pina found her greatest joy in her family and her faith. She was a deeply spiritual woman, and attending church was an important part of her life. Her love for her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters knew no bounds, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
Born from humble beginnings, Pina carried a quiet strength and grace that shaped generations. Renowned for her kind heart and deep resilience, she was the steady anchor of her family—always putting others first. Her wisdom was forged through life’s challenges, and her compassion was offered freely and without condition. With a gentle word, a warm embrace, or a heartfelt prayer, Pina had a way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and at peace.

Pina encontraba su mayor alegría en su familia y en su fe. Era una mujer profundamente espiritual, y asistir a la iglesia era parte esencial de su vida. Su amor por su hija, su yerno y sus nietas no tenía límites, y se sentía más feliz cuando estaba rodeada de su familia.
Nacida en un hogar humilde, Pina vivió con una fortaleza y una gracia silenciosa que marcaron a varias generaciones. Reconocida por su gran corazón y su profunda resiliencia, fue el pilar de su familia—siempre pensando primero en los demás. Su sabiduría fue forjada a través de los desafíos de la vida, y su compasión se ofrecía sin condición.
