It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Marguerite J. (Lantagne) Demers, 90, of Worcester, on Monday, October 5, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late John C. Demers, Sr.

Born September 21, 1936, in Newport, Vermont, Marguerite was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mathilda (Hupe) Lantagne.

Marguerite met the love of her life, they married and lived in Connecticut for many years, settling in New Fairfield, before moving to Worcester in 1998.

Marguerite worked for many years at Davis & Geck in Connecticut. She enjoyed visiting casinos and spending time at the beach overlooking the water and viewing the sunsets. Her passion was her family and her home, she spent countless hours tending to her family, her yard, and her gardens, nurturing them all with love and devotion. She enjoyed her time spent with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marguerite is survived by her loving son, John C. Demers, Jr. and his wife, Victoria of Rhode Island; her dear grandchildren, Sarah and her husband Bill of New Hampshire, Danielle and her husband Daniel of Massachusetts, and Ryan and his wife Caroline of Rhode Island; her adored great grandchildren, Johnny, Billy, Ava, Aiden, Dominic, Zoey, Rylie, Elliot, and Evelyn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sadly, in addition to her parents and beloved husband, Marguerite was predeceased by her siblings, Oliver, George, Joseph, Clarence, Roland, Aristide, Jeannette, Rudolph, and Cecile.

The family would like to thank her caretaker Laurie, Peter and Kathy, Elder care and meals on wheels, for all their support.

Calling Hours for Marguerite will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9:00a.m. until her Funeral Service starting at 11:00a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
