Lucy (Polaselli) Ventura

Lucy (Polselli) Ventura, 93, a longtime resident of Worcester passed away Tuesday, May 5th 2026, with her devoted sons, Peter and Paul, gathered at her side. Lucy is reunited in heaven with the love of her life and husband of 67 years Maurice, a Navy veteran, who passed away in June of 2022.

Lucy was born in Acre, province of Frosinone, Italy and was one of two daughters of Rocco and Gaetana (Benigini) Polselli. She immigrated with her family to the United States at the age of 3. They settled in the East Side section of Worcester where she grew up, and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. Lucy began her career as a dressmaker before getting married, and after raising her two sons she accepted a position helping young children learn as a teacher’s aide for the City of Worcester School Department before retiring.

Lucy is survived by her two devoted sons, Attorney Peter Ventura, and Paul Ventura, both with whom she lived. She is predeceased by her husband, Maurice, her parents, and her sister Maria Lapomardo.

Lucy was a typical Italian mother who cherished her family, enjoyed cooking, baking, ceramics and crafts. With her skills as a dressmaker Lucy made many articles for family and friends. Lucy’s home was always open with food and kindness for all her family and many of her friends and even her children’s friends.

Funeral services and burial in St John Cemetery were held Privately. Memorial remembrances in her name can be made to help veterans at Vets Inc., 69 Grove Street Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
