Lucy A. Murphy

Lucy A. (Dell’Olio) Murphy, 87, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at UMass Hospital. 

Lucy is survived by her devoted daughter, Eileen Painchaud and cherished granddaughter, Nicole Painchaud, both with whom she lived; a brother, Domenic Dell’Olio and his wife Judith of Holden; a sister, Teresa Ferretti of California; a sister-in-law, Pauline Dell’Olio of Worcester; cousins, Marion and Arthur Chaput, and Ginny Schramm, all of Worcester; many nieces and nephews, including Donna Dryden who considered Lucy to be her second mother.  She was predeceased by a brother and two sister, Louis Dell’Olio, Marion Giard, and Maria Latino.  A special thank you to Elizabeth Mensah, who was Lucy’s care giver and was more like family.  Lucy was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Leo and Teresa (Defeudis) Dell’Olio and has lived here all her life.

Lucy worked for many years as a medical office manager at Hahnemann Hospital.  She was a member of Saint Anne’s Church, she sang in the church choir.  She enjoyed tennis, painting beautiful pictures, card games, traveling, and western movies especially if John Wayne was the star.  For many years she used her prolific baking skills to create beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends.  Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family.

Calling Hours will be on Saturday, April 2, from 10 a.m. until her Funeral Mass begins at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9 east), Shrewsbury.
