Lucille (Nardella) Carrier

October 16, 1932 — December 10, 2022

Lucille M. (Nardella) Carrier, 90, a lifelong Shrewsbury Street, Worcester resident passed away Saturday, December 10th, 2022, with loved ones gathered at her side after a brief illness.

Lucille was born in Worcester, the daughter of John and Grace (Buduo)Nardella. She attended Adams and Gage Street Schools and graduated from Worcester David Hale Fanning High School. Lucille then went on to earn her cosmetology degree from Broms Academy. Lucille worked for several hair salons where she was loved by all her customers. She took immense pride in ensuring that each customer left satisfied with her look. In 1955, in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Lucille married the love of her life, Francis “Franny” Carrier. They settled in her childhood home to raise their family and lived there in faith, family and love until Frank passed away in 2010 after 55 years of marriage. Lucille continued to live in her home until her passing.

She is survived by two sons, Frank J. Carrier and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, and John Carrier of Pompano Beach Florida;  Her daughter and best friend, Susan Dorey with whom she lived;  three grandchildren, Daniel J. Dorey, Jr. and his wife Liana (Dell’Ovo) Dorey, Julie Simone, and Ashley Walker; great grandchildren, Dominic, Jack, Vanessa, Sienna, Jaxon, Irelyn: A brother, Joseph Nardella; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many lifelong friends. 

Lucille with a strong catholic faith, devoted Italian heritage, bright smile and huge heart, was loved by all. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, the Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America, and its Bocce league for many years, and the Maria S.S. Addolorato Ladies Biscegliese society. Lucille enjoyed cooking, trips to the casinos, cruises with Franny, trips to Italy, the Caribbean, South American and especially wintering in Boynton Beach, Florida.   In Lucille’s life nothing was more important than her family and friends. She was devoted to them and would help anyone who asked or needed her. She cherished her many friends at Bocce and the Sons of Italy. Lucille notably played many years of Bocce, even when it was most difficult to toss the ball.

A period of calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 15th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd where her funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am. Burial next to Frank will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Scholarship fund, care of The Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America, P.O. Box, 2371, Worcester MA 01613.
