Lillian (Wask) DeSantis

May 11, 1925 — October 30, 2022

Lillian (Wask) DeSantis, 97, a lifelong Worcester resident passed away peacefully Sunday, October 30, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

Lillian was born in Worcester, the daughter of Andrew and Marcella (Andruska) Wask. She graduated from Commerce High School and the Horace Man School. She married the “Love of her life” Albert “Babe” DeSantis and lived a life of faith, love, and family for the next 50 years until Babe left her side in 1998. Lillian continued to be the matriarch of her family, guiding them through the future. Lillian worked in the legal industry for over 40 years before retiring. She began as a Legal Assistant for 11 years for Linwood M. Erskine at Forbes & Erskine before accepting a position in the same field with State Mutual, Allmerica for 30 years before retiring in 1991.

Lillian is survived by her two children, her daughter and best friend, Nancy Dylewicz and her husband John of Charlton, Edward DeSantis and Steven Wroblewski of San Diego, CA; three cherished grandchildren, John and his wife Liz, Andrew, and Christine; two great grandchildren, Gianna, and Gabriel; extended family members and friends.

Lillian was a member of St Joan of Arc Church for 50 years. An avid sports enthusiast, Lilian loved to golf. She was a 62-year member of the Green Hill Golf club beginning in 1960. At State Mutual, Lillian was a member of the State Mutual Golf league during 1960 thru the 1980’s and its Women’s Bowling league. A dedicated mother and grandmother, her family was the most important part of her life. She loved to visit family and travel all over this country. Notably twice a year to California and Washington state. She enjoyed occasional trips to the casino and all types of outdoor activities.

A period of calling hours will be held Thursday, November 10th from 9 am to 10:30 am, followed by a Christian service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in St John’s Cemetery,260 Cambridge St., Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, Mass.
