Leda (Ventura) Lopopolo

November 10, 1931 — December 5, 2023

Leda Marie (Ventura) Lopopolo, 92, a lifelong Worcester resident passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, after a period of declining health.

Leda was born in Worcester,  one of six children of Italian immigrants, Pasquale and Rita (Tarricone) Ventura.  Raised in the Italian neighborhood off Shrewsbury Street, Leda graduated from Commerce High School.   She met the love of her life, “Vito Lopopolo”  while visiting family in Italy and got married In 1966.  From that point Leda began a 51-year journey of love, dedication, devotion to her Italian heritage and family before Vito left her side in 2017.  Leda worked as an office administrator for E.B. Luce Company before retiring.  She previously worked for several oil companies in the area, including Central Oil and Marr Oil.

Leda is survived by her two devoted sons, Anthony Lopopolo and his wife Michelle of East Sandwich, Daniel Lopopolo and his Fiancée Christine Zecker of Sturbridge; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Jacqueline, Madelynn, Caroline, Emilie and Vincent; a great grandson, Theodore Vito; Many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.  In addition to her husband Vito and parents,  two brothers, Vito and Louis Ventura and three sisters; Nina Molinari, Mary DeCillis and Phyllis Beliveau predeceased her.

Leda was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. She and Vito had a summer home in Monument Beach, enjoying the peace of watching the ocean waves, watching the boats go by the Cape Cod Canal and entertaining family and friends during the Summers.   She was an avid Red Sox  fan (and critic), seldom missing a game. The matriarch of her family, Leda’s home was always filled with the sounds of Italian Music, the aroma of homemade Italian sauce simmering on the stovetop, the smell of Italian cookies in the oven, or with her cherished family surrounding her.  Leda’s home was always open to visitors and family, always with something to eat or take home.
