Kevin E. Edwards

Kevin E. Edwards, age 73, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 where he was surrounded by his loved ones.

Kevin was the beloved husband of Mary Edwards for 42 wonderful years. Together they built a beautiful life in Shrewsbury, where they raised their three children: Jonathan Edwards, Peter Edwards and his wife, Melissa Edwards, Julie Massad and her husband, Jonathan Massad as well as his 4 grandchildren Maddie (6), Ethan (4), Jonnie (3) and Amelia (2).

He was predeceased by Edward and Marguerite Edwards and will be sorely missed by his sister Kathleen Fontaine and her spouse Leonard of AZ, and his brother William Edwards and his wife Kathryn of TN., and many nieces and nephews.

He was born and raised in Iowa City, IA and was a proud Hawkeye fan. He then met the love of his life, Mary, in Boston while attending the University of Massachusetts after serving 3 years in the US Army. Kevin had a love for music and spent his early 20s playing the drums with his band. But from his 30s to retirement, he was a proud and hardworking member of the Darling Consulting Financial Group.

For four decades they called Shrewsbury home. However, his heart was more recently drawn to Cape Cod where he found the most joy and peace at the family’s dream home in Harwich. He spent his last five summers in his rocker on the porch, in the yard tending his garden and building an art studio for his wife. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids jumping in the ocean and bringing them home to master the perfect chocolate chip cookie or a cup of sherbet.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Kevin was surrounded by those he loved all of his life. Kevin will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, belly laugh and the quiet strength he brought to those around him. His presence was a steady light in the lives of those who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to gather for calling hours, Friday, May 30th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held Saturday, May 31st from the funeral home with a procession beginning at 9:30 am to St John Church, 40 Temple St. where his Celebration of Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial with Military honors will follow in Mt View Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to Better Day Adult Memory Care Program, 195 Reservoir St. Marlborough, MA 01752.
