Karen A. Holden

Karen A. (Cyr) Holden, 65, of Charlton passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on January 10, 1961, in North Tonawanda, New York, she was the daughter of Constance (Clark) Cyr and the late Adelbert Cyr. Karen was a graduate of Burncoat High School in Worcester and built a life centered on family, dedication, and generosity.

She leaves her devoted husband of 43 years, William F. Holden; her daughters, Jennifer L. Holden of Charlton and Olivia J. Houle and her husband Ryan of Southbridge; her son, Max W. Holden and his wife Brittany of Douglas; her brother, Jeffrey M. Cyr and his wife Ann Marie of Worcester; her sister, Wendy S. Connor of Worcester; her cherished grandson, Silas Owen Houle, to whom she will now be his guardian angel; her nephews, especially, Jeffrey, Michael, Patrick, Gregory and Zachary, along with her only niece, Makayla.

Karen worked for the Polar Company in the Transportation Department for 20 years and was looking forward to her retirement on April 1. Prior to that, she dedicated 20 years to Chuck’s Steak House. She was known for her strong work ethic and the many friendships she built throughout her career.

Karen found her greatest joy in cooking for her family, spending time with her grandson, and caring for her two beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Cashew and Ozzy. She loved to entertain and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
