Julia M. (Borraccino) Vayo, 97, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully at home on April 26, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved son, Raymond E. Vayo, Jr., who passed in 1978.

Born to the late Ernesto and Mary (DelNegro) Borraccino, Julia was the last surviving of their seven children. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her three daughters: Rose C. Westall of Millbury, Kathleen M. Bria and her husband Thomas of Worcester, and Mary E. Hoekstra and her partner Anthony DeSimone of Leicester. Julia’s six grandchildren—Dawn Nanni, Robin Kirchner, Michelle Frazier, Kelly Thebodo, Donald Hoekstra, and Nicholas Hoekstra—and eight great-grandchildren brought her immense joy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

For many years, Julia served as the devoted housekeeper at the Rectory of Ascension Parish in Worcester, where she lovingly prepared meals, maintained the household, and cared for the resident priests until her retirement in 1998. Julia was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, formerly on Shrewsbury Street.

Julia’s warm spirit shone brightest during Sunday family dinners, surrounded by loved ones. She delighted in playing BINGO, card games, and “The Wonder of It All.” Her family, especially her grandchildren, filled her heart with happiness, and her love for them was boundless.

Funeral Services are being held privately.

The family has entrusted Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel.
