Julia Carolina Luiz DeSouza, 28 of New Bedford formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 29, 2023 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. 

Julia was born on June 28th, 1995 in Americana, Sao Paulo, Brazil. She went to Abby Kelley Charter Public School, graduating in 2014. Julia continued her education at Worcester State University graduating with her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2022. She was currently pursuing her master’s degree. Julia worked as a behavioral therapist at ABS Behavioral Health Services in Worcester. She was a devout member of Mt. Zion Christian Church in Grafton where she was involved in the church’s dance ministry. Julia loved dancing, especially ballet. She also enjoyed painting, cooking, traveling, and baking cakes and bread.

Julia leaves her beloved husband, Diego DeSouza whom she married on May 20, 2023. She also leaves behind her father, Adilson A. Luiz of Leominster and her mother, Rosimeire Luiz and her fiancé Ron Urnetta of Shrewsbury; her brother, Vitor Luiz of Shrewsbury; her maternal grandmother, Aparecida Marcelo of Worcester; her aunt and uncle, Viviani Luiz Menossi and Claudenir Menossi of Worcester; her cousins, Elizabeth and Eloiza Luiz Menossi of Worcester; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Julio and Elisabete DeSouza of Dartmouth; two brothers-in-law, Julio DeSouza and his wife Stephanie of New Bedford and Douglas DeSouza and his wife Tori of New Bedford; three nephews and two nieces, Benjamin, Gabriel, Caleb, Alea and Gianna DeSouza; many aunts, cousins, friends, and extended family in both Massachusetts and Brazil. She is predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Antonio Luiz and her paternal grandmother Maria Luiz.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4-8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester and again on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 8-11 am followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am in Mt. Zion Christian Church, 53 North Main St., North Grafton, MA. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
