John I Torbay

 John Issa Torbay “Hanna” of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age 71, at home surrounded by loving family and friends.

Born in Kfarhazir, Lebanon, John was the son of Issa Tarabay and Rahme Daher.

He is survived by his wife Sonia Aoude of Shrewsbury and his five children, Issa and his wife Joseline Josef of Shrewsbury, Alexi and his wife Susan McNitt of Northboro, Daughter Rima Torbay of Sterling, George Torbay of Shrewsbury, Richard Torbay and his wife Margaret Nelson of Shrewsbury, and four beloved grandchildren Angelina, Isabella, Giorgio and Richard JR.

His extended family consists of many relatives from the following families, Tarabay, Daher, Aoude,  Abdilmasih, Jeha, Habib, Elias.

John was a beloved husband and dedicated father who will always be remembered for his love of life and family, gardening and his smile that would always light up the room.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours Wednesday from 5 to 8pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester, MA

And again, on Thursday, May 2nd from 9 to 10:45 am at St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester, MA and the funeral service at 11:00 am at the Church, The Very Reverend Milad Selim will officiate. Followed by a Burial at Mt. View Cemetery in Shrewsbury, MA

He was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral.  In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St George Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 30 Anna St.   Worcester.
