John F. Goreschak, Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Shrewsbury Rehabilitation & Nursing at Southgate.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Lori A. Perry, and her husband, David, of Worcester; his cherished grand-puppy, Jaxson; and many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his devoted wife of 49 years, Barbara H. (Busby) Goreschak, and his sister, Geraldine "Geri" Bepko.
John was born in Pennsylvania on December 3, 1941, the son of the late John F. Goreschak, Sr. and Johanna V. (Zalutko). He graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Bridgeport. While completing his undergraduate studies, he worked full-time at Levitz and was an active member of a fraternity. He later received his Master's Degree in International Business from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Following graduate school, John moved to Framingham, Massachusetts, where he began his career with Ford Motor Corporation. It was there that he met the love of his life, Barbara, whom he later married. Together they raised their daughter in Framingham before moving to Northborough in the early 1980s, where they made their home for many years.
Throughout his professional career, John worked as a Regional Sales Representative for Kendall Corporation, Goodall, George S. May International, and Flexaust, where he also served as Marketing Manager. His work took him throughout New England, several other states, and Canada. Later in his career, he transitioned into headhunting and real estate, bringing the same dedication and personable nature that had defined his earlier professional endeavors.
John was a longtime member of the United Brethren Lodge in Marlborough and the Scottish Rite. He generously gave his time to volunteer work and was especially involved in the Children's Christmas Party for many years. He was also a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Northborough.
John will be remembered as a caring, thoughtful, funny, and persistent man who was always willing to offer advice, lend a hand, or help solve a problem. Above all else, he treasured his family. Whether spending time with his wife and daughter or gathering with loved ones during holidays and celebrations, family was always at the center of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, John found joy in freshwater and deep-sea fishing, hunting, archery, canoeing, skeet shooting, and golf. He had a deep appreciation for nature and enjoyed capturing its beauty through photography while documenting family milestones and special events. In his younger years, he maintained a large summer garden, taking pride in growing a wide variety of vegetables.
Music was another lifelong passion. His tastes ranged from classical and country music to rock, with Creedence Clearwater Revival remaining his favorite band. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar at family gatherings and events. Earlier in life, he also played the banjo, organ, and clarinet.
John was resourceful, hardworking, and never afraid to tackle a repair project. He enjoyed working on cars, home projects, and even building furniture. He took particular pride in his extensive tool collection and often joked that if he did not have the tool you needed, then you probably didn't need it.
He also loved animals and shared his life with many cats, dogs, and fish over the years. A fan of classic Western television shows, 1970s comedies, and the original NCIS, John always appreciated good entertainment. While his career allowed him to travel extensively, some of his most treasured trips were those taken with family, including visits to Maine, Cape Cod, Connecticut, Virginia, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, San Francisco, Georgia, and many other destinations throughout the United States. Friends and family will also fondly remember his love of chocolate.
Above all, John was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and genuinely good man whose kindness, humor, and steady presence enriched the lives of those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Shrewsbury Rehabilitation & Nursing at Southgate for the compassionate care they provided during the last nine years of his life. They also extend their sincere thanks to his physicians, nurses, and caregivers at Reliant Medical and UMass Memorial Medical Center for their support and dedication.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 West Main Street, Northborough. A Memorial Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial of his ashes will be held privately at a later date.
