John R. Gaboury

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Richard Gaboury, 73, of Worcester, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Clinton, on August 3, 1953, John was the son of the late Ernest Richard and Florence “Pat” (Laskowski) Gaboury.

John fondly talked about his childhood growing up in Berlin exploring the woods and playing on the railroad tracks, near his childhood home. He graduated from Tahanto Regional High School in 1971 and earned an Associate Degree from Northeastern University in 1985.

John has retired from his job as Senior Production/Inventory Planner at Rolls-Royce Naval Marine of North America. Prior to this, he worked at Kiddie Fenwal.

John was a kind and giving man who loved a good joke. He was renowned for his love of music, trains and his family. Once while railroading with a friend, John got to ride in the engine of the train from Worcester to New Haven and was allowed to put the train in motion.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Carole McCann-Gaboury of Worcester; his loving daughter, Jacquelyn Gaboury of Worcester. He leaves his twin brothers, Kevin and Keith Gaboury; sister-in-laws, Gloria Gaboury, Lisa McCann, Linda Belliveau, Maureen Koons-Austen; niece, Tricia Griffis, and nephews, Matthew Gaboury, Michael, and Matthew Souza.

Though John is no longer with us, we will forever miss him, we will carry him with us in all that we do.

Calling Hours for John will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00pm until his Memorial Service starting at 3:00pm in the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.
