John A. Delgado, 67 of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly, on October 3, 2026. John, affectionately remembered by many as “Johnny”, was a beloved father, stepfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. His passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who loved him, but also gratitude for the memories, laughter, strength and love he shared throughout his life.
Born in Worcester, MA , Johnny was the dearly loved son of the late Antonio J. “Tony” Delgado, Sr. and Jessie P. (Kennedy) Delgado. Johnny was a man with a big heart, a great sense of humor, and a personality that could light up any room.
A lifelong resident of the city, Johnny attended North High School and spent his years working hard and serving others. Throughout his career, he held positions with the Massachusetts Turnpike and multiple nursing homes. However, his true passion was found behind the wheel of his Taxi, where he dedicated more than 40 years to serving his passengers and the community.
Johnny never saw his passengers as people he was simply driving; he saw them as friends. He loved meeting people, and had a gift for making people feel comfortable and cared for. Whether helping an elderly passenger get to a doctor’s appointment or sharing a laugh with a longtime client, Johnny brought kindness, warmth, and genuine conversation wherever he went. The friendships and connections he made over the years were a true reflection of the caring person he was.
Above all, Johnny loved his family, he was a protector at heart and wanted to make sure his family was happy and safe. Some of his fondest moments were spent with his cherished daughter Theresa, he valued their time spent together bowling as she was his pride and joy. To many, Johnny will forever be remembered as the life of the party and family gathering. He never missed an opportunity to crack a good joke and was always ready to dance earning him the nicknames “Get Down John Brown” and “Happy Feet” by his family.
Johnny leaves behind more than memories; he leaves behind stories. When his family gathers, the stories will begin, as they always have, with a smile and the familiar words, “Remember the time when Johnny…” From there will come the laughter, the memories, and the stories that will keep his spirit alive for generations to come.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio J. and Jessie P. Delgado, his brother, Stephen Delgado and sister Bonita Delgado.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved daughter, Theresa Delgado, and his stepson, DeSean Conyer and their sister, Jayda Jordan; his siblings, Dianna Lewis of North Carolina; Antonio Delgado, Jr. and his wife, Indy of Virginia; Joseph Delgado of Worcester; Donna Delgado of Worcester; Anthony Delgado of Georgia; Michael Delgado of Georgia; Charlene Delgado of Worcester; Danielle Delgado of Virginia; Charles Delgado of Florida; Timothy
