John Albert Dagnello, 89, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 19th, 2026. John is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Cynthia (Mard) Dagnello. He was born in Worcester, the son of Italian immigrants, John and Josephine (Di Iorio) Dagnello, and lived here his entire life. John served the City of Worcester with distinction as a Firefighter and subsequently as Chief Electrical Inspector. He also generously gave of his time as a volunteer at Treasure Valley for the Boys Club of America. John is survived in addition to his wife Cynthia by his three devoted children: son Michael Dagnello and his wife Jeri of Marshfield; daughter Elaine Dangora and her husband James of Billerica; and son John Dagnello and his spouse April Brys of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren, Joseph Dagnello, Talia Romano, Kayla Dagnello, Mia Skolnik, Anya Dangora, Anthony Dangora, Sophia Dagnello and Julia Dagnello; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Angelo Dagnello and his wife Sharon of Worcester; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters Lucy Servideo, Mary Trent, and Lena Pietrewicz, and his brothers Anthony and Albert Dagnello. A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Saturday May 23 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Rosary Church, 35 Fales Street, Worcester, followed by interment at St. John Cemetery, Worcester. Arrangements are under the care of the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
