Joseph Nemecek

June 10, 1936 — June 29, 2023

Joseph “Joe” Nemecek was a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world on June 29, 2023, at age 87. He was born to Mary Morris Nemecek and Emil Nemecek on June 10, 1936. After high school graduation, Joe proudly served our country in the US Navy as part of the anti-submarine squadron; VS-32 Maulers. During a leave on the east coast, he met the love of his life Marie Guglielmetti. Upon completion of eight years of service, Joe married his soul mate Marie and graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/ RF Engineering. Joe had an accomplished career in the aerospace industry and held multiple patents that progressed the development and advancement of RADAR, communications over fiber, and visual display. Joe and Marie shared over 65 years of marriage and had 5 beautiful daughters, Mary Mann (Charles), Donna Cesario (Philip), Denise Kinney (Robert), Jean Cronan (Patrick), Jennifer Ibarra (Brian); 3 darling grandchildren Nicole Humphrey (Thomas), Kyle Mann (Tani), and Sean Cronan (Flaminia); 3 special great-grandchildren; Revan, Juliet, and Navi Mann; and a sister, Maryrose White (Carolyn, Richard, Kenneth). He is predeceased by a niece, Susan. He was an avid golfer and was a favored winner on the links at the country club. His love for golf transcended to his children and grandchildren. Joe also loved puzzles and mysteries, especially Sherlock Holmes. His alternate address was 221B Baker Street. Joe could be found walking his furry four-legged children: Mimi, Pippa, and Peaches. Joe always said his best accomplishments were his faith, love for his wife and family. Joe’s funeral will be held Monday, July 10th, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St, where his Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow to Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon. A period of calling hours will be held from 9:00 to 10:15 am prior to leaving for church.
