Joan A. (Pettinella) Aslanian

Joan A. (Pettinella) Aslanian, 83, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, surrounded by those she loved.

Born in Worcester on November 25, 1942, Joan was the daughter of the late Camillo and Concetta (Lattanzio) Pettinella and took great pride in her Italian heritage. A Commerce High School graduate, she enjoyed a long career as an insurance broker, running E&G Insurance with her partner, Gary Kelleher, before working at Eastern Insurance and Allstate. She also owned Mortimer Travel Agency, reflecting her love of travel and the beach.

Above all, Joan cherished her family. Kind, faithful, and generous, she found joy in helping family, friends, and neighbors whenever she could.

Joan leaves her beloved husband of 54 years, Richard E. Aslanian; her stepchildren, Richard Aslanian Jr. and his wife, My Trang, of Virginia, and Anthony Aslanian and Lee Hall of Worcester; her adored grandchildren, Karl and James Hall, Barry Aslanian Jr., My Linh and Kim Anh Aslanian, and Stephanie Collins; and her cherished nephews, Greg Pettinella and his wife, Denise, of Auburn, Chris Pettinella of Worcester, Jonathan “Scott” Pettinella and his wife, Max, of Louisiana, and Frank Brindisi of Virginia.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Fred, Rocky, and Anthony Pettinella; her sisters, Nancy Brindisi and Elizabeth Pettinella, who died in infancy; her loving son, Barry and his wife Katherine; and her beloved granddaughter, Eva Hall.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 9, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester, with burial afterward at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Our Lady of the Rosary Church or the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
