Joan (Harrington) Grant, 90, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Grant.
Born in Windsor, Vermont, on May 26, 1935, Joan was the daughter of the late Paul and Ovis (Lacy) Harrington. She attended Windsor High School and carried the kindness, strength, and sense of community from her Vermont roots throughout her life.
Joan proudly worked for the Hanover Insurance Company for 28 years before retiring. Never one to stay idle, she continued to share her skills, warmth, and good humor with other companies for many years afterward.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing cards, knitting with friends, enjoying lunch dates, and ending the day with a nice glass of Chardonnay. Renowned for her warm heart, hard work, and selflessness, Joan’s greatest happiness came from time spent with her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her loving children, Britt Berthiaume of Worcester and Kelley Grant of Auburn; her adored grandchildren, Julie, Paul, Peter, Andrew, Brittany, and Sean; her dear great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was also deeply devoted to her daughter, Martha Murphy, who passed away earlier this year. The bond they shared was a source of great comfort and love throughout Joan’s life.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes, her family and friends will gather for a celebration of life to remember and honor her.
Mercadante Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
