James M. Novia, 75, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Saint Francis Home, surrounded by loving family members.
James is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Novia; two sons, Justian Novia and Jeffery Novia; a brother, Steven Novia; four sisters, Debra Dalbec, Ann Brooks, Maureen Loubier, and Cathy Maraglia and her husband Cliff; five grandchildren, Alexis and Donovan Goodwin, Aaron, Tyler, and Crystal Novia; a great granddaughter, Xaraleise Maldonado; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Peter Novia, III, and Michael Novia. James was born in Worcester, son of the late, Peter M. Novia, Jr., and Mae R. (Paul) Novia, and has lived here all his life. James graduated from Worcester North High School and later served his nation proudly in the United States Navy.
James worked for many years at Sears in Concord, NH as a sales associate in the jewelry and shoe departments. He was a devout Catholic and attended Mass daily. He enjoyed cooking, dining out, antiquing, shopping, and going to races.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, July 1, from 4 pm until 6 pm when his Funeral Service will begin at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
