James Albert Locketts, Jr., 69, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Worcester.
James is survived by his partner of twenty-five years, Thomas S. Wilson; a sister, Dorothea Atkins of Boston; two brothers, Brian Watkins of North Attleboro and Sean Elliot Roisten of Worcester; Thomas’s family and friends; many nieces and nephews. James was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Anthony L. Wright, Carl Watkins, and Shelley Ann Watkins. James was born in Baltimore, MD, son of the late, James A. Locketts, Sr. and Annie R. (Watkins) Locketts, and was raised in Boston. He graduated from William McKinley High School in Boston; he later moved to Wellesley, before settling in Worcester in 1996.
James worked as a cook at the Clark Manor Nursing Home for many years, having previously worked as an assistant at Armstrong Nursing Home and Ad-Care Hospital. He was a long-time member of the 12th Baptist Church of Boston, and was active with APW, The AIDS Action Committee, and the Boston Living Center. He enjoyed cooking, Gospel music, and tv.
Calling Hours for James will be on Wednesday, October 29, from 9 am until 11 am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 am in the funeral home as well. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
