James T. Buffone, 87, a lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, April 16th, 2026 with loved ones gathered by his side. Jim is reunited in heaven into the arms of the love of his life, and soulmate of 64 years, Lois (Rizzuti) Buffone who passed away last September and their son Thomas who passed away in 2004.

Jim was born in Worcester, the son of Frank and Louise (Corda) Buffone. Raised in Worcester, he graduated from Worcester Boys Trade. Jim then joined the U.S. Navy, serving his country proudly aboard the destroyers, U.S.S. Corry, and U.S.S. Massey, before being honorably discharged. Upon return home, Jim married Lois and they began to raise their four sons. Jim worked to support his family as a book binder for J.S. Wesby in the Printers building before retiring.

He is survived by his three sons, James Buffone and his longtime companion Patty Donahue, Paul Buffone and his wife Noelle of Sutton, MA; Ron Buffone and his wife Penny of N. Oxford, MA; six cherished grandchildren, Casie, Gianna, Jarod, Justin, Kyle, Ciara; and great grandchildren Ava, Giabella; three sisters, Rosemarie Corville, and her husband Cliff of Auburn, Barbara Jean Van Dyke, and her husband Brian of Ft Myers Florida, and Nancy Swett, and her husband Bruce of Worcester; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A special thanks to his son Jimmy, Granddaughter Casie, Patty, and Elaine Giard who helped care for him over the last several months. In addition to his wife Lois, son Thomas and parents, three brothers, Frank “Sonny”, Peter and Joseph Buffone, and sister, Dorothy Landry, all predeceased him.

He was an active member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, and volunteered, for the church bazaars and Italian Festivals. He enjoyed summers at Old Orchard beach with family, gardening, attending car shows with Lois, woodworking notably constructing, sand boxes, and picnic tables for family and friends. His greatest moments were those spent with Lois, his sons and family.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of calling hours, Wednesday April 22nd from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME, 370 Plantation St. before proceeding in procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. where his celebration of Christian burial Mass will be held at 11 am. Burial with Navy honors next to Lois will be held in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road 01604 or Vet’s Inc, 60 Grove Street 01608.
