Hosie R. Adams, Jr.

Hosie “Buddy” R. Adams, Jr., 81, of Sunflower, MS, was born on September 25, 1944, in Holly Ridge, Mississippi to Hosie R. Adams, Sr. and Addie L. (McKinney) Adams, who predeceased him.

Hosie graduated from Gentry High School, then moved to Illinois prior to settling in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1964. He returned to his childhood home in 2017 to live out his final years.

While living in Worcester, MA, Hosie worked as a butcher and was a member of the meat cutters union, while working at Fairway Beef, Big D and Price Chopper’s until retirement in 1998.

Hosie was a lifelong member of the Masonic Fraternity (W. Prince Grand Lodge Mason). As a “Brother of the Craft”, he held several positions, received many honors and was elevated to the position of Grand Master. Additionally, Hosie was an active member of King David Lodge/ Crispus Attucks Lodge 724, Prince Hall Lodge of Massachusetts Lodge 36, and the Quinsigamond Elks Lodge 173, holding several leadership positions. He was committed to the betterment of his community and had unwavering faith in the Lord.

Hosie had many joys in life, spending time with family and friends topped the list. It also included singing, golfing, fishing, playing card games, and if you knew him well, occasionally playing “the numbers”.

He departed this life on Saturday, January 10, 2026, and leaves behind his six children (spouses), including Brian Maddox (Kelle), Kristal Allen House, Gloria Carter, Lisa Maddox, Tia Adams Eady (Ray), and Stephanie Adams. His eldest son Alvin Sawyer predeceased him. Hosie also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, who he loved very much.

Hosie is also survived by his beloved siblings Eula Mae Adams-Carter, Ola Mae Adams-Evans, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Felix Adams, Sr., James Adams, Sr., Woodrow Adams, Sr., Roosevelt Adams, Ora Adams-Stevenson, and Mary Adams-Burrell.

Family and friends are welcomed to a celebration of life for Hosie Adams on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 12pm-3pm at Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ, 63 Wellington Street, Worcester, MA 01610. The services will also be streamed on YouTube @MtSinaiKingdomBuilders and on Facebook @ Mt. Sinai Church of God in Christ MA.
