Henry Plaud

Henry Plaud, 84,  a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, passed away surrounded by loved ones Friday, April 19th 2024.  Henry is welcomed into heaven into the arms of  “the Love of his life” for 62 years, Barbara A. (Perry) Plaud who passed away June 28th of 2023. 

Henry was born in Hyannis, Ma, the son of Emile and Mary (McDonough) Plaud.  Raised in Millbury, he graduated from Millbury High School, joined the U.S. Marine Corps serving the country proudly for six years before being honorably discharged in 1964.   Henry then worked for several companies in the manufacturing industry including, David Clark, Pratt & Whitney, and Norton Company before accepting a position with the First Federal Savings bank as a Real estate appraiser, continuing in this occupation for many years before retiring.  On July 11th, 1964, Henry married Barbara A. Perry.  Three years later,  Barbara and Henry built a home in Shrewsbury where they raised their four children with faith, love, and family. 

Henry’s wife Barbara passed away in June of 2023.  He leaves, four children, Dr. Joseph J. Plaud PhD and his wife Eve of Naples, Florida, Karyn R. Plaud, Tracy Catarius and her husband David, and Daniel K. Plaud all of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren he adored, Cory, Brianna, Alyssa, Matthew, and Alexandria; three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Sawyer, Wesley and a fourth on the way.   In addition, Henry also leaves, two sisters, Kathleen Vuona of Shrewsbury, Rosemary Altshuler and her husband Jay in California: two brothers, Leon Plaud and his wife Deb in California, Emile Plaud, Jr. and his wife Shelley of Douglas; A brother in law, Kenneth Perry in California;  Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  In addition to his wife and parents, two brothers, Victor and Julian Plaud, and a brother in law,   Michael Vuona all predeceased him.    

Henry was a longtime member of St Annes church, the Adelphi Council  Knights of Columbus in Shrewsbury, the Massachusetts Association of Real estate Appraisers and the Worcester Detachment of the Marine Corps league.  Henry was an enthusiastic New England sports fan, the Boston Red Sox being his favorite.   He also, enjoyed playing cards, summer vacation trips, the holidays, family dinners, tending his yard and garden.   Along with Barbara they dedicated their life to their family , greatly proud of all of them.  

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Friday, April 26th 2024 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  His funeral will be held Saturday, April 27th from the funeral home with a procession to St Annes church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where his Mass will be celebrated at 10 am.  Burial with military honors will follow in Mt View Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the St Jude Children’s research hospital, 501 St Jude Way, Memphis, TN.
