Helen M. (MacKoul) Isaac, 99, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 3, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her three loving daughters- Elizabeth Persinger and her husband Richard of Millbury, Susan Besse and her husband Arthur of Jacksonville, FL, and Joanne Reegan of Worcester; seven grandchildren- Charles Arnold, Tracy Laraia, Tara Bulak, Kimberly Arnold, Arthur Besse, Derek Besse, and Jason Besse; 12 great-grandchildren- Charlie Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Alena Arnold, Jason Laraia, Tyler Bulak, Thea Bulak, Ashley Bonin, Zachary Besse, Jordan Besse, Jaylen Besse, Dylan Besse, and Natalia Besse; four great-great grandchildren- Vanessa Laraia, Violet Laraia, Eleanor Besse, and Dominic Besse; and two sisters- Adele Metta and Margaret Stewart. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years Joseph J. Isaac in 2004, and eight siblings- Mary Mitchell, E. Louis MacKoul, Nicholas MacKoul, Michael MacKoul, John MacKoul, Ann Coury, Thomas MacKoul, and Joseph MacKoul.

Helen was born in Worcester on September 8, 1926, daughter of the late George Moses and Malvina (Kurban) MacKoul. As a devoted family woman, Helen left school at the age of 16 after her mother passed away to help care for her younger siblings. She was extremely skilled and was a very hard-working woman. She worked as a seamstress for the David Clark Company making parachutes for WWII. She then worked for the Girl’s Club in numerous departments for over 30 years.

Helen enjoyed going bowling and playing bingo. She was always up for a long car ride. Playing cards with her family and friends was a fond past time of hers. Above all, Helen adored her family. Spending time with them was the light of her life. She will forever be remembered as a loving, caring, and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10:00am to 11:00am at St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street, Worcester. Please go directly to church. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00am in the church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester is honored to assist the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen’s name may be made to St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral.
