Graciano Rodriguez Perez, 100, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Odd Fellows Home in Worcester.
Graciano is survived by his wife of sixty years, Carmen L. Martinez Ortiz; three sons, David Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, and Carmelo Rodriguez; a daughter, Mahly Davila; a brother Rafael Rodriguez; and two sisters Olga Rodriguez and Maria Luisa Rodriguez. Nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ramona Rodriguez. Graciano was born in Canovanas, Puerto Rico, son of the late, Bartolo Rodriguez and Fernanda Perez. He was educated in Puerto Rico and moved to Worcester in 1990, where he continued to build a life centered on family, love, and service to others.
Graciano was a proud career soldier in the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. For many years he and his beloved wife Carmen opened their hearts and home as fosters parents, welcoming children into their lives and treating many of them as their own family. Above all Graciano was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his playful sense of humor, his love of telling jokes, and he also treasured the music of his beloved Puerto Rico.
Whether watching baseball, enjoying a boxing match, or admiring fast cars, Graciano found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Graciano’s’ greatest legacy was the love he gave so freely. He believed that family extended beyond bloodlines, embracing those who came into his life with the same care and affection he gave his own loved ones. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family will be remembered and treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Calling Hours will be on Thursday, October 22, from 9 am until his Funeral Service begins at 11 am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at 2 pm at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
