Gordon E. “Skip” Giorgio, 80, of Sutton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, with his loving wife and sons at his bedside.
Skip is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of fifty-seven years, Judith A. (Stankevicus) Giorgio; their two sons, Michael J. Giorgio of Orlando, FL, and Mark J. Giorgio of East Greenwich, RI; and four beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Owen, Milani, and Kian. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Joseph F. and Mary R. (Martin) Giorgio, and was a proud graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School.
Skip worked as a master carpenter, cabinet and furniture maker with the Carpenters Union, Local 107, until his retirement in 1999. With his skilled hands and love he built a life centered on peace, beauty, and joy hand-crafting a "post-and-beam" barn where he tended to his bonsai and designed and maintained his koi pond. His love of nature was evident in his passion for fishing, bird-watching, gardening and creating a tranquil haven that he and Judy called home.
Skip worked hard, loved deeply, and took great pride in providing a peaceful place for his family and friends to gather. His legacy lives on in the hands he guided, the home he shaped, and the family, his greatest joy, who loved him dearly.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 28, with a procession departing the funeral home at 10:40 a.m. enroute to an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (Route 9 East), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury Center.
