Gladys Rodriguez Cotto, 78 of Worcester passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones she loved Wednesday October 2, 2019, joining in heaven her daughter, Migdalia Rosado who passed away as an infant in 1963.
Gladys was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, a daughter of Julio Robles Rodriguez and Horacia Melendez. Raised and educated in Puerto Rico, Gladys lived with her family in New York, Boston and Worcester where she has lived for many years.
Gladys is survived by her devoted family, three daughters, Carmen Pena and her husband Angel of St Cloud, Florida, Lola Fotiou-Rosado and her husband Petros, Ada Elisa Egusquiza and her husband Paul all of Worcester; three brothers, Juan, Jesus and Jose Rodriguez all in Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren, Frankie L. Rivera and his wife Helene, Francine Kubert and her husband Jason, Katiria Rivera, Angel Pena Soto and his husband Jorge, Brianna Bermudez and her husband Pedro, Lucero, and Paul Egusquiza, Jr., Alessio Pena and Adrianna Egusquiza; twelve Great Grandchildren; her former husband Juan “Lee” Rosado; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents and son, a grandson Louis Franco Rivera passed away in 2005 and older sister Carmen Lydia Rodriguez also predeceased her.
To Gladys, her family always came first in her life no matter what. She was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them especially her beautiful grandchildren. Gladys was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, family dinners, dancing, laughing, cooking, and just being with them. She had a great sense of humor, was a social butterfly who made everyone feel at ease with her presence. She believed that faith, family and friends were the most important parts in her life and had room in her heart for everyone she met. Gladys was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could. Her unwavering faith kept her grounded and helped her through all life's challenges. She was a devoted Christian, formally member of Jesucristo Fuente de Gracia and Hermandad Cristiana de Restauracion a las Naciones. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, October 7th from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St followed by her funeral service at 11:30am. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery.
