Gina M. Lorusso, 48, of Charlton, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Gina was born in Worcester on April 20, 1978, and graduated from Holy Name High School. She worked for several companies before accepting a position as department manager at Opus Company in Shrewsbury, where she worked for the past ten years. She was also a dog rescue foster parent, a role she often “failed at” by keeping them. Gina is survived by her parents, Patricia (Gully) Lorusso and stepfather John Yanczewski of Worcester; her father, Leonard Lorusso, and his wife Ruth of Langdon, NH; her fiancée and life partner, Gregory Lis of Charlton; two brothers, Anthony Lorusso and his wife Amy of Woonsocket, RI, and Matthew Yanczewski of Worcester; a sister, Andrea Arter of Landon, NH; two stepchildren, Aidan and Danica Lis; a nephew, Zachary, and niece, Makayla; and great-niece and great-nephew, Jacob and Genevieve. She is also survived by a large extended family, including uncles and aunts Frank Lorusso and his wife Tina, Antoinette Appelt, and Stephen Gully and his wife Kathy; cousins Howard Klatsky and his wife Sheri, Christina Deyo and her husband Ron, Shaye Holm and her husband Billy, Nicole Lorusso, Cole Klatsky, James Gully, Lindsay Deyo, Jason Deyo and William Holm; her best friend, Tawanna Vance; her beloved dogs, Austin, Maxwell, and Starr; her beloved cats, Matilda, Sheldon, and Mooshie; and countless friends. She was predeceased by many beloved family members who now welcome her into their arms in heaven, including her maternal grandparents, Joseph P. and Loretta (Belair) Gully; paternal grandparents, Sergio and Lena Lorusso; uncles Paul and James Gully; aunt Anna Barrie; and cousins Paul, Scott, and Jason. A bright star with a huge heart and a giant smile, Gina could light up any room she entered. She loved life, freshwater fishing, cooking, gardening, and especially growing flowers from seedlings each spring. She also enjoyed crafts, football, baseball, and watching Greg race motocross. Friends and relatives are invited to gather for calling hours on Wednesday, April 29, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, at the funeral home followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
