Gil adoraba profundamente a su esposa.

Gilberto “Berto” Sanchez, cariñosamente conocido como “Gil” por sus amigos, “Junior” por su familia y “Papa” por sus hijos y nietos, partió para estar con su Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo, el 7 de agosto de 2026, a la edad de 61 años.

Nació en Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, y pasó su niñez en Nueva York antes de mudarse a Massachusetts, donde vivió durante su adolescencia y juventud. En el año 2000, él y su familia se mudaron a Florida, donde vivió hasta el día de su partida.

En 1983, a los 18 años, Gil se casó con el amor de su vida, Ruth, quien tenía 16 años. Lo que comenzó como un amor de juventud se convirtió en 43 años de matrimonio, amistad, compañerismo y una extraordinaria historia de amor.

Gil adoraba profundamente a su esposa. Ruth era su mejor amiga, su confidente, su alma gemela y la mujer que más amó en este mundo, después de Jesucristo. Crecieron juntos, formaron una hermosa familia y caminaron por la vida lado a lado. Su matrimonio fue un hermoso testimonio de la fidelidad de Dios.

Papa era esa persona en quien todos podían confiar: su protector, proveedor, el que encontraba soluciones a cualquier problema y una fuente constante de alegría y risas.

Gil fue un esposo, padre, abuelo, hijo, hermano y amigo dedicado. Le sobreviven su esposa, Ruth; su hijo, Gilberto Sanchez Jr., y su nuera, Jessica; su hija, Glendalys Macias, y su yerno, Armando; y su hija menor, Jennifer LaVancha, y su yerno, Paul E. LaVancha II. Deja atrás a sus siete queridos nietos: Angelina, Trey, Madelyn, Charlee, Liliana, Lia y Sophia. Para su familia, él era su gigante de corazón tierno.

La familia siempre estuvo en el centro de su vida. Papa era esa persona en quien todos podían confiar: su protector, proveedor, el que encontraba soluciones a cualquier problema y una fuente constante de alegría y risas. Era bondadoso, leal, confiable, carismático y completamente entregado a las personas que amaba.

Tenía un sentido del humor increíble y podía hacer reír a un cuarto entero con tan solo una expresión de su rostro. Su familia atesorará para siempre sus chistes, su espíritu juguetón, sus consejos, su sabiduría y las innumerables aventuras y memorias que compartieron juntos.

Gilberto también fue un hombre trabajador y con un deseo constante de aprender. Gran parte de su vida laboral la dedicó a conducir camiones comerciales, siempre esforzándose por proveer para su familia.

Su familia atesorará para siempre sus chistes, su espíritu juguetón, sus consejos, su sabiduría y las innumerables aventuras y memorias que compartieron juntos.

Era una verdadera fuente de conocimiento. Siempre se podía contar con él para compartir un dato interesante, encontrar una solución a un problema o contar una historia que terminara haciendo reír a todos. Pero, por encima de todo, Gil fue un hombre de fe.

Su relación con Jesucristo era el fundamento de su vida. Su fe lo sostuvo durante las temporadas más difíciles y guió la manera en que amaba, servía y cuidaba a los demás. Como líder espiritual de su familia, animaba a sus hijos y nietos a conocer a Jesús, confiar en Dios y edificar sus vidas sobre un fundamento firme de fe. Gil era miembro de Family Christian Center en Clermont, Florida.

Aunque su familia llora profundamente la pérdida del hombre que amaron tanto, no lo hacen sin esperanza. Se aferran a la promesa de su fe: que la muerte no es el final y que un día volverán a encontrarse con él en la presencia de su Señor.  Gilberto fue precedido en la muerte por su padre, Gilberto Sanchez Sr.; su abuela, Julia Feliciano; su hermana, Nelida Sanchez; y su suegra, Ramonita Virola. Le sobreviven su madre, Nelida Figueroa; su hermana, Eloina Sanchez; su amada esposa, sus hijos, sus nietos, su familia extendida y los innumerables amigos cuyas vidas fueron tocadas por su bondad y su amor. Su familia extrañará sus risas, sus abrazos, sus chistes, sus consejos, su protección y, simplemente, el tenerlo aquí.

Pero llevarán su legado adelante.
Llevarán su fe.
Llevarán su amor.
Llevarán su alegría.
Y llevarán consigo el ejemplo que les dejó de amar a Dios y amar a su familia con todo el corazón.
Papa, terminaste tu carrera. Guardaste la fe.
Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar en el Cielo,
te amamos más de lo que las palabras jamás podrían expresar.

Gilberto “Berto” Sanchez, lovingly known as “Gil” to his friends, Junior to his family and “Papa” to his children and grandchildren, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, Gil spent his childhood in New York before moving to Massachusetts, where he spent his adolescence and young adulthood. In 2000, he and his family moved to Florida where he lived until his passing.

In 1983, at 18 years old, Gil married the love of his life, Ruth, who was 16 at the time. What began as young love became 43 years of marriage, friendship, partnership, and an extraordinary love story. Gil absolutely adored his wife. Ruth was his best friend, confidant, soulmate, and the woman he cherished above all others, second only to Jesus Christ. They grew up together, built a beautiful family together, and walked through life side by side. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to the faithfulness of God.

Gil was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; his son, Gilberto Sanchez Jr. and daughter-in-law Jessica; his daughter Glendalys Macias and son-in-law Armando; and his youngest daughter, Jennifer LaVancha and son-in-law Paul E. LaVancha II. He leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Angelina, Trey, Madelyn, Charlee, Liliana, Lia and Sophia.

Llevarán consigo el ejemplo que les dejó de amar a Dios y amar a su familia con todo el corazón.

To his family, he was their gentle giant.  Family was always at the center of his life. Papa was the one they could always count on as their protector, provider, problem solver, and constant source of laughter. He was kind, loyal, trustworthy, charismatic, and endlessly devoted to the people he loved. He had an incredible sense of humor and could make an entire room laugh with nothing more than a facial expression. His family will forever cherish his dad jokes, his playful spirit, his wisdom, and the countless adventures and memories they shared together.

Gilberto was also a lifelong learner and an incredibly hard worker. He spent much of his career as a commercial truck driver, always working to provide for his family. He was a true fountain of knowledge and could always be counted on for an interesting fact, a solution to a problem, or a story that would make everyone laugh. Above all else, Gil was a man of faith. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. His faith carried him through difficult seasons and guided the way he loved, served, and cared for others. As the spiritual leader of his family, he encouraged his children and grandchildren to know Jesus, trust God, and build their lives upon a strong foundation of faith. Gil was a member of Family Christian Center in Clermont, Florida.

While his family grieves the tremendous loss of the man they loved so deeply, they do not grieve without hope. They hold tightly to the promise of their faith that death is not the end, and that one day they will be reunited with him in the presence of their Lord.

Gilberto was preceded in death by his father, Gilberto Sanchez Sr.; his grandmother, Julia Feliciano; his sister, Nelida Sanchez; and his mother-in-law, Ramonita Virola. He is survived by his mother, Nelida Figueroa; his sister, Eloina Sanchez; his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and love. His family will miss his laughter, his hugs, his jokes, his wisdom, his protection, and simply having him here. But they will carry his legacy forward.

They will carry his faith.
They will carry his love.
They will carry his laughter.
And they will carry the example he gave them of loving God and loving his family wholeheartedly.
Papa, you finished your race. You kept the faith.
Until we see you again in Heaven, we love you more than words could ever say.
