George L. Vancelette

George L. Vancelette, 85 of Worcester, passed away peacefully and joined his beloved wife in heaven on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

George was born in Dudley, MA, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Borowski) Vancelette and was a graduate of Worcester Schools.  He served his country in the United States Army.  George worked as a sales representative for The David Clark Company as well as various other companies during his work career.  He was a devout catholic who said the rosary daily and was a member of St. Anne’s Church.  George was also a member of the Teamsters Local 170 and volunteered at St. Anne’s Church and St. John’s Food for the Poor.

George’s beloved wife of 55 years, Jean P. (Walsh) Vancelette passed away on February 12, 2022. He is survived by a son, Thomas M. Vancelette and his wife Zandra and a daughter, Ellen Cherry and her husband Patrick all of Worcester; six grandchildren, Brittney, Brennan and Kailey Cherry, Isabella and Anthony Vancelette and Santiago Mora; many nieces and nephews.  George is predeceased by five siblings, Arthur, Joan, Robert, his twin Alice and Nancy.

Services for George will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 am in St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 16th from 9-10:30 in the funeral home prior to departure for his funeral Mass.
