George E. “Gigi” Leardi, 72, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of his home on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He is reunited in Heaven with his loving wife, Jayne M. (Haglund) Leardi, who predeceased him in 2019; and with their son, Robert J. Leardi, who passed away in March of 2024.
Gigi is survived by his son, Michael T. Leardi and his long-time girlfriend, Hillary Doyle; a brother, Joseph A. Leardi; three sisters, Cheryl Alano, Kathleen “Kate” Leardi, and Bonnie Leardi; his sister-in-law, Nancy Augusto and niece, Brittany Augusto who helped care for him throughout his illness; three grandchildren, Gino, Vince, and Gianna; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Casto Leardi. Gigi was born in Worcester, son of the late, Domenico and Jean M. (Corazzini) Leardi, and has lived here all his life.
Gigi was a truck driver for many years with Worcester Truck. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Red Sox, and travelling to Maine and Florida, people watching at the mall or at the casino. Family was important to him, and he was delighted when surrounded by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and dear friends,
The family would like to extend a “thank you” to the VNA Caer nurses who visited regularly and shared their compassion and kindness.
Calling Hours will be on Tuesday, August 11, from 9 am until 11 am in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to an 11:30 am Funeral Mass at Saint John’s Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery.
