Generoso “Gino” Adimari, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by his devoted family on June 13th, 2023, at the Southgate Rehabilitation Home in Shrewsbury, MA .
Generoso’s wife, of fifty-five years, Erminia (Grandinetti) Adimari passed away on March 11th, 2003. He is survived by his three daughters: Angelina and her husband Vincenzo Manieri of San Giacomo D’Acri; Maria Bifano of San Giacomo D’Acri, and Nancy and her husband Tony Bianco of Worcester, MA; fourteen grandchildren and twenty six great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Fedele Adimari and Angelina (Vitteriti) Adimari both of San Giacomo. He is predeceased by his wife, Erminia (Grandinetti) Adimari, sisters: Rose Grandinetti, Christina Girardi, and Maria Romeo; a brother, Natale Adimari; son-in-law, Angelo Bifano, and granddaughter Amy Bifano.
Generoso was born on July 20th, 1925 in San Giacomo D’Acri, Italy. In his younger days, he was a farmer in the Italian countryside working by hand and shovel alongside his wife. He came to the United States from Calabria in March of 1969 and settled close to family on Wall Street in Worcester. When he came to America, he worked construction for many years before he retired.
The saying "small and mighty" says it all. Gino was hard-working, eager to always lend a helping hand wherever needed, never afraid to get his hands dirty. He was a humble, family-man, a man of little words yet full of wisdom. He had a kind heart, often remembered for his care. He loved his family both immediate and extended and took pride in being a part of their lives. He never drove, even though he had a license, and found joy in walking around Worcester’s Grafton hill area where he got the name "Papa Gino" by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He loved referencing his life in Calabria and sharing the memories he had of family and friends there. He enjoyed time with his family, storytelling about his life, a glass of homemade wine, warm weather, growing tomatoes and a good game of scopa. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. He will be greatly missed. He was a longstanding member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. His family finds comfort in his peaceful passing and knowing he will be reunited with his wife in Calabria once again.
A sincere gratitude to all the staff and residents of Southgate Rehabilitation Home.
