Franklin E. Robertson

Franklin “Rob” Edward Robertson, 68, of Port Saint Lucie, FL, formerly of Worcester, MA passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

Rob was married to his beloved wife, Cheryl Ann (Mitchell) Robertson for over 27 years until her sudden death in 2010 at only 48 years old. Rob is survived by his son, Christopher R. Mitchell of West Boylston, MA; his mother, Elizabeth (Krikorian) Robertson of Holden, MA; his sister, Roxanne (Robertson) Sutherland and her husband, Daniel of Worcester, MA; his former wife, Donia Adele Dewees of Oak Hill, FL; extended family and friends. Besides his first wife, Cheryl, Rob was predeceased by his father, Wayne C. Robertson in 2012.

Born in Concord, New Hampshire, Rob and his family moved to Worcester in 1966. After graduating from Burncoat Junior/Senior High School, Rob joined the United States Navy serving his country honorably which included the final years of the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge from active duty in the Navy in 1979, Rob worked at NCR for close to 10 years before becoming a truck driver hauling U.S. Mail, all while serving in the Navy Reserves. He lived most of his life in Worcester before retiring and moving with his wife, Cheryl to Port Saint Lucie, FL in 2004.

Rob enjoyed classic cars including Chevrolet Camaros and Ford Mustangs among others, classic movies and television shows, United States and World War II history, hanging out with the guys for coffee, going to the gym, traveling, and trips to the beach. He especially enjoyed the many road trips with his son, Chris over the years, summer trips to his son’s home in Massachusetts most recently in September, along with his son’s corresponding winter trips to visit him in Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Friday, December 30, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA. Cremation will be private.

A remembrance gathering for Rob’s Florida family and friends will be held in Florida at a date to be determined in the future.
