Francis X. Maguire

April 9, 1926 — February 12, 2022

Francis X. “Mac” Maguire, 95, formerly of Millbury and Cape Neddick, Maine, passed away on Saturday, February 12th while at the CareOne Facility in Millbury.

Mac was born in Grafton, MA, son of William H. Maguire and Barbara (Gillespie) Maguire. He was educated in the Worcester Parochial and Public schools and was a graduate of Worcester Junior College.

Mac was a member of the American Management Association (AMA) and a graduate of the President’s School of AMA of Hamilton, NY. He was a sales representative for the Monarch Life Insurance Company of Springfield and Blue Cross, Blue Shield. He served as the Vice President and General Manager of Palco Products, a division of Worcester Pressed Aluminum, where he was employed for 10 years.

In 1976 he formed Maguire/Lemay & Associates, Inc., a manufacturer’s representative corporation in the sporting goods industry. He served as Treasurer until his retirement in 1986. He was a World War II veteran in the US Naval forces during the invasion of Normandy, France.

Mac is predeceased by his wife of 75 years, Antoinette “Toni” (Balestracci) Maguire who passed away in April 2021 and leaves three daughters, Susan Maguire of Nahant, Kathleen Maguire and her husband Bob Goupil of Hudson and Patricia Maguire and her husband Bob Kitchen of Stow; two sons, Michael Maguire of California and Mark Maguire and his wife Karen of Millbury. He is predeceased by a son, Francis X. Maguire, Jr. who died in 1955. He also leaves one granddaughter Cara Maguire of California and three grandsons, Patrick & Adam Maguire of Massachusetts and Morgan Maguire of California and a great granddaughter Mabel Maguire.

Mac is predeceased by his brothers William F. Maguire and Richard J. Maguire.

He was a member of Kiwanis, Millbury Planning Board, Citizens Watch Group and the Knights of Columbus, Auburn Chapter. He enjoyed golfing, working outside and spending summers at his home in Maine at the beach in Ogunquit.
