Francis X. Desautels III, age 73, passed away on October 10, 2026, following a brief battle with his health. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, love, and inspiration that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
Francis was a man who truly loved life and lived it in his own unique way. A free spirit from the hippie days, he was known for his love of tie-dye, his sparkling eyes, his unmistakable personality, and his ability to inspire those around him. He had a special appreciation for landscaping, finding treasures at yard sales and flea markets, and the excitement of auctions. Whether working outdoors, searching for vintage toys, or sharing a story, Francis brought his own special energy to everything he did.
For many years, Francis was the proud owner of Frank's Landscaping, where he built a successful business and lasting relationships with his customers. After retiring from landscaping, he followed another passion by opening Frankly Toys and Antiques, reflecting his love of unique finds, cherished collectibles, and the joy of discovering something special. Known as the shop for wayword toys, a place to find a new home. His work was more than a career; it was an extension of his personality, his passions, and his connection to others.
Above all, Francis cherished his family. He shared 24 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda (Pugliese) Desautels, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. Their years together were filled with love, companionship, and memories that will forever be treasured.
He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Veronica (Vaudreuil) Folcarelli, of Sturbridge, and her husband, John Folcarelli Jr. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his three cherished granddaughters, Bailey, Josie, and Anabella, who brought immeasurable joy to his life and held a special place in his heart
Francis is also survived by his two sisters, Pearl Desautels and Sandra Rivernider. He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved mother, Rita (Poirier) Desautels, his father, Francis Desautels II, his father's wife, Theresa (Rondeau) Desautels, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Rivernider, Sandra's beloved husband, who passed away before him. He is also reunited with his sister-in-law, Therese Smith, who passed away before him.
He leaves behind his brother-in-law, David Smith, husband of the late Therese Smith, and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Odell, who will continue to cherish his memory.
As Francis begins his eternal journey, we find comfort in believing he is at peace, embraced by God's everlasting love and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we hold on to the promise of eternal life and the hope that one day we will see him again. May his soul rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord as he walks in the light of Jesus.
Beyond his immediate family, Francis leaves behind many loving relatives, dear friends, and loyal customers whose lives he touched throughout the years. He had a way of making an impression, leaving people with a story to tell, a memory to smile about, or a little inspiration to carry with them. His individuality, free spirit, and unmistakable sparkle in his eye will never be forgotten.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and entire staff of UMass Memorial, 3 Lakeside ICU, and the Cardiac Surgical Team for the exceptional love, compassionate care, kindness, and understanding they provided to Francis and his family during such a difficult time. Your dedication and support will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
Francis lived life on his own terms, embraced the things he loved, and reminded those around him that life is meant to be lived with passion, curiosity, and a little bit of color. Though his time here has come to an end, the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he gave will continue to shine brightly.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. May he rest in heavenly peace, with his spirit forever free and his heart at home in Heaven.
