Francine M. (Bisceglia) Cassanelli, 74, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, October 20, 2023. Francine is welcomed in heaven into the arms of her sister, Brenda Luzzo who passed away in February of 2022 and her best friend, Susan Duquette, who passed away in 2013.
Francine was born in Worcester, the daughter of Michael and Helena (Frazier) Bisceglia. She graduated from Commerce High, married, and moved to Shrewsbury to raise her family. As her life moved forward Francine then met George Cassanelli and they quickly became inseparable spending the next 25 years devoted to one another and their families, in their home in Shrewsbury and spending winters in Delray Florida.
Francine, the matriarch of her family, devoted herself to her family’s care and the maintaining of her home. With a gift for design, Francine owned and operated a Florist shop, “The Flower Cart” in Worcester for ten years in the early 2000’s.
She is survived by her love for the past 25 years and husband, George Cassanelli; three sons, Michael Cox and his wife Cynthia Ennis of Westborough, Kevin Cox, and his wife Yvette Golay of Naperville Illinois, Paul Cassanelli and his wife Jennifer of Clifton, VA; a brother, Denis Murphy in Colorado and a sister, Theresa Cassanelli of Shrewsbury; six grandchildren she adored and was so proud of, Ethan, Brady, Lucy, Sophia Cox-Golay, Lyla Cox, and Samantha Cassanelli; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Francine was a member of St Anne’s Church. She was an extraordinary cook and loved by all. She always had the ability and the want to care for all who needed it. Her family was her pride and life’s dedication, Francine’s greatest moments in life were those spent with her children and especially her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of her family, always placing their needs above hers. She enjoyed plants, flowers, her garden, trips to Hampton and Ogunquit beach and spending winters in Florida. Francine was a truly special person who will be dearly missed by all.
Friends are invited to gather for calling hours Sunday, October 29th from 3 to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Monday, October 30, from the funeral home with a procession to St Annes Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA.
