Eugenio A. Casillo

Eugenio A. “Eugene” Casillo, 84 of Worcester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brief illness on Friday, May 3, 2024, at UMass Medical Center.

Eugene was born on November 16, 1939, in Grottaminarda, Province of Avellino, Italy, a son of the late Tomasso and Carmela (Petrillo) Casillo. He grew up in Italy and came to Worcester in 1960 where he has lived ever since. Eugene worked for Morgan Construction for over 30 years before he retired. Above all he was a kind, compassionate, and loving husband, father, and grandfather with an infectious smile. He was a huge soccer fan and loved cooking his Italian dishes. He enjoyed doing handyman projects and trips to the casinos with his wife. His family was most important to him, especially his grandchildren. In his free time, he could be found attending his grandchildren’s activities or taking care of his granddog Chester.

Eugene is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Camille T. (Federico) Casillo; two sons, Thomas J. Casillo of Worcester, and Joseph A. Casillo and his wife Leigh of Sutton; daughter Lisa Casillo of Sutton; four grandchildren, Ava Renee, and Dillon Scott Dussault and Joseph Porter and Lilliana Louise Casillo; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by a brother, Pietro “Peter” Casillo and a sister, Maria Ulto.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Tuesday, May 7^th from 4- 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Services for Eugene will be held on Wednesday, May 8^th with a procession from the funeral home to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd., Worcester where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
