Eugene "Gene" Pease

Eugene W. “Gene” Pease, 72, a longtime resident of Worcester passed away surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.  

Gene was born in Worcester, the son of Warren and Virginia (Yanitis) Pease.  Raised in Shrewsbury, Gene graduated from Shrewsbury High School a standout in Football.  He then accepted a full football athletic scholarship to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.  Gene joined the U.S. Army during Vietnam to serve his country.  Upon discharge, Gene accepted a position with the Norton Company where he worked in different compacities for over 30 years before retiring in 2008.   

Gene is survived by the “Love of his life” for over 36 years, Elaine A. (Bemis) Pease.  A stepson, Jeffrey Ford, and his wife Sherry of Worcester; two grandsons he was so proud of and cherished immensely Ryan, and Matthew; Other family members and friends.  

An accomplished athlete, in football. He enjoyed sports, tending to his yard, reading, history, the beach, trips with Elaine to Florida and the Casino.  He cherished Elaine and his family and found the greatest moments in life with them.

In keeping with Gene’s wishes funeral services and burial will be held privately.  THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
