Elma L. (Giancaterino) LeDoux, 90, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, with loved ones gathered at her side, after a period of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband William J, her son Deacon John F, son Michael J and her brother Francis.
Elma was born in Waltham, the daughter of Dominic and Elsa (Alberghini) Giancaterino, and graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester. Elma married William J. LeDoux in 1954, and they spent the next 45 years devoted to each other and their family before William passed away in 1999. Elma began her married life as a homemaker and mother. After working as a bookkeeper for several years, Elma opened “The Yarn Shoppe” in West Boylston. She was accomplished in knitting and crocheting and loved teaching her craft.
Elma is survived by her two children, William M. LeDoux and his partner Christine Howe of Worcester and Susan E. Mahoney and her husband Denis of Holden; a daughter in law, Allison LeDoux of Worcester; brother, Edward Giancaterino and his wife JoAnn of Worcester; sister Jean Giancaterino of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, Melanie LeDoux, Judith LeDoux, Kimberly LeDoux, Theresa LeDoux, Deborah De Mora Saa and her husband Andres, Merideth Chvriuk and her husband Timothy, John LeDoux, Jr., Maria LeDoux, Meghan Mahoney, Joseph Mahoney, Michael Mahoney and his wife Aram Kim and Laura Mahoney and her husband Michael Spontak; three great grandchildren, Mikaela, Thaddeus, and Alexander; many nieces, and nephews and cherished friends Stella Cicero, Patricia LeDoux and Grace Papandrea.
Elma was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and the Worcester Lodge #168 Order Sons of Italy in America. She volunteered at the Seven Hills Foundation and the Senior Center in Worcester. The sunroom on her house allowed her to follow her passion for growing a variety of plants and flowers.
Elma loved to cook, cherished the times she spent with her children, grandchildren, family members, and engaging in conversation.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Monday, August 15th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, August 16th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Rosary Church, 35 Fales Street where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial with her husband will follow in St John’s Cemetery.
