Betty truly enjoyed her retirement years being home with her girls and her beloved late uncle, Walter McGuiness.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elizabeth A. “Betty” Peterson, 76, of Worcester, on Thursday, October 29, 2026, in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Born November 7, 1949, in Worcester, Betty was the daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (McGuiness) Peterson. She was a 1967 first year graduate of Marian High. Betty immediately went to work at N.E. Telephone, now known as Verizon. After 30 years she took an early retirement. She worked at Home Depot for a few years during her retirement, along with other part-time jobs. Betty truly enjoyed her retirement years being home with her girls and her beloved late uncle, Walter McGuiness. Among her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, many crafts and reading. She was an avid do it yourselfer working on many projects in and around the home she loved. Betty was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
We will miss Betty immensely but her warm heart and love for us will live forever in our hearts.
Betty is survived by her devoted daughters, Kimberly “Kim” Kennedy of Rhode Island, and Elizabeth “Beth” Wilhelm and her husband Brandon of Worcester; her dear siblings, Donald Peterson of Florida, Walter “Pete” Peterson of Connecticut, Mary Peterson of Rhode Island, Janet Peterson of Spencer; her longtime best friend, Susan Miller; her adored Godchild, Melissa Vescera; and many nieces and nephews.
