Eileen J. Petit

Eileen J. (Mott) Petit, 84, of Rutland, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, with her family by her side.

Eileen was born in Worcester, the daughter of Edward J. Mott, Sr. and Jeanette (Bazin) Mott. She is survived by her two sons, Keith Petit, Sr. and his wife April of Rutland, with whom she resided, and Robert K. Petit, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Worcester. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Keith Jr., Kristi, Kaley, Hannah, Cooper & Kyle; 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, including Kelly Ploufe, whom she considered a daughter.

She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Mott Jr., and her sisters, Shirley Mott and Mary Morin.

Eileen enjoyed knitting, and you could always count on receiving a pair of her famous handmade slippers for Christmas. Known for her quick wit and sharp sense of humor, Eileen always had a wisecrack ready. She will be especially missed by “Tom,” whom she often spoke of with a smile.

She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 10 years as a mail handler.

Funeral services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Eileen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
