October 17, 1928 — April 5, 2023

Eduvigis Concepcion, 94, of Brookfield, formerly of Worcester, passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Eduvigis was born in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, she was one of four children of Eusebio and Anastacia (Gonzalez) Concepcion. Raised in Puerto Rico, Eduvigis immigrated with her family to the United States in 1961.   She raised her family as its matriarch with faith, love, and devotion until her death.

Eduvigis is survived by her four dedicated children, George Estremera and his wife Maria, Magdalena Estremera and her husband Anthony Goodwin, Javier Estremera and his wife Karen, Graciela Estremera with whom she lived; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both in the United States and Puerto Rico.

A woman with a kind heart, bright smile and devoted to her family and faith above all.  She was a Eucharistic minister, CCD teacher, and founder and past president of Sagrado Corazón de Jesus of St. Joan of Arc Church.  Her children and church always came first in her life no matter what. She was the backbone of her family and remained devoted to them throughout life.  She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important parts of her life. Eduvigis was very generous with her love, time, and resources, and helped anyone she could.  Her faith kept her focused and helped her through all life's challenges. Her passing leaves a hole, and she will be greatly missed.  Her greatest moments were when her family surrounded her, she loved to cook, especially on the holidays and all the special occasions when they could be with her.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 13th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.   Her funeral will be held Friday, April 14th from the funeral home with a procession to St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St where her Mass will be celebrated at 11 am.   A burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
