Dorothy "Dawn" Pepper

Dorothy D. “Dawn” (Carey) Pepper, 66 of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 21, 2022 at home.

Dawn was born in Worcester, one of two daughters to the late John Philip and Mary Margaret (Ash) Carey.  She grew up in Shrewsbury and lived there and in Worcester most of her life.  Dawn earned her associates degree in nursing from Quinsigamond Community College and her bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State University in 1997.  She worked as a registered nurse from Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plains at the time of her passing.  Throughout her career she had always worked for various facilities including The City of Worcester School Department and UMass Medical Center.

Dawn loved animals, especially her dog “Apple” and her cats “Mew’ and ‘Mama’.  She was a fantastic grandmother.  She also enjoyed watching Law and Order Series, Boston Sports Teams and was a friend of Bill W.

Dawn is survived by her son, Nicholas A Pepper and his wife Sarah; her daughter, Mary M. Pepper and her spouse Marc Bennett all of Worcester; a grandchild, Aislynn Bennett-Pepper; a nephew, Brian Holland of North Brookfield; her sister, Mary Jane “Star” Holland; and many friends and colleagues.

Services for Dawn will be held privately and at the convenience of her family.  MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
