Doris E. (LaRose) LaConte, 92, of Worcester, passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, April 16, 2023. Her husband, George W. LaConte, predeceased her in January 1993.
Doris is survived by nine children, Christine Scace and her husband Gary of Florida, Mary “Betsy” Bougie and her husband Paul of Worcester, Barbara Pryor and her husband Joe of Milford, Laura Mysliewiec wife of the late Jacque of Hyannis, Francine Foley and her husband Brian of Worcester, Cassie DePasquale and her husband Peter of Charlton, Dr. Joseph LaConte and his wife Holly of Leicester, Nancy LaConte and her husband Nick of Worcester, and George LaConte and his wife Gina of Worcester; a sister, Patricia Bennett of Florida; twenty-two grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; her life-long friend, Margie Mattress of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Phyllis Amelio, and Robert and Arthur “Sonny” LaRose. Doris was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur J. and Olivina E. (Boyle) LaRose and has lived here all her life.
Doris worked as a printing press operator for the former Woodbury Printing Company and along with her husband, operated A & A Antiques. She was a talented seamstress, dress maker, and could fix or repair almost anything. As a seamstress, she made her children their beautiful matching holiday outfits, everyday clothing, and sewed for the church. She made drapes and curtains. She even made dolls clothes. She Managed her own business, "The Real You" dress shop, where she was a seamstress and tailor. She designed many gorgeous prom and wedding dresses for others and many for her own girls. She was a member of the Brown Square Women’s Club and the former Saint Margaret Mary Church.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and confidante.
Calling Hours will be on Friday morning, April 21, from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession, departing at 11:40 a.m. to a 12 Noon Funeral Mass at Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9 east) in Shrewsbury. Interment beside her husband will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
