Dirk A. Horn

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dirk A. Horn, 59, of Worcester, on Thursday, August 13, 2026 with his wife Dawn by his side.

Born in Staten Island, New York, on May 21, 1967, Dirk was the son of Dirk C. and the late Helen (Peterson) Horn.

Dirk was a second generation merchant marine and inherited his love of the water from his dad. Dirk loved to tell stories about the antics of him and his crew to anyone willing to listen. However, it was the life he built with his devoted wife that brought him the greatest joy.

Dirk and Dawn shared a simple but beautiful life together. Dirk mostly enjoyed spending time in his yard with family and friends, sharing laughs, stories, food and drinks. Dirk loved gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and the amazing wild life in his back yard. Dirk was an avid sports fan. He loved his New York Giants and Rangers, but you could also find him in the stands cheering for his adopted Boston Red Sox and Worcester WooSox with his partners in crime, UB & UT. Dirk and Dawn loved to travel together and enjoyed many trips to Florida, Long Beach Island, NJ, the Dominican Republic, New York City, and Cape Cod. Dirk truly enjoyed hosting and spending time with his loved ones. Dirk´s happiest times were spent surrounded by those he loved most, including his adored friends Gina Wendland and Shannon ÓBrien of Bridgeport, CT. Dirk most looked forward to football Sundays, cuddled up on the couch with Dawn and snacking on homemade pizza.

Dirk is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn-Marie Ramian of Worcester, MA; his cherished brother Jason Horn and his partner Briana Lapointe as well as his treasured nieces Aubrey and Brinley Horn all of Bristol, NH; Father Dirk C. and his wife Grace Diaco Horn of Staten Island, NY; his Mother-in-law Patricia Ramian and Brother-in-law George A Ramian Jr, both of Worcester, MA; and his beloved cat Ms. Frankie-Mae Ramian-Horn, along with loving extended family and dear friends from New York, Florida and the various corners of the world.

Dirk’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the loving care provided by the St. Vincent Hospital Cancer and Wellness Center with special loving thanks to Kathy, Juli, Amy, Josie and Brenda.

Though Dirk is no longer with us, not a single day will pass without him being a part of our memories and hearts.

An intimate celebration of life will take place at a later date.
