Darlene R. Haynes, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was marked by love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years James C. Haynes, Sr. of Boylston; three loving sons- Craig Haynes and his wife Carla of Boylston, James Haynes, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Sterling, and Jason and his wife Kelly of Westminster; seven adored grandchildren- Ethan, Wesley, Oliver, Jack, Christian, Abby, and Lily; Siblings Bernard Fredette, Denise Smyth, and Rae Williams-Morand. She was predeceased by her sister Renee Rondeau.
Darlene was born in Worcester, daughter of the late H. Raymond and Ruth (Brusso) Fredette. She worked for her husband’s new home construction company as an administrative assistant for 15 years. Upon the birth of her first grandchild, Darlene chose to retire early from her career to care for him herself, ensuring that no one ever had to worry about daycare costs. This selfless act speaks volumes about the kind of person Darlene was—empathetic, nurturing, and endlessly generous.
Darlene and Jim’s home was always filled with laughter and life, as she delighted in having all her grandchildren around her each and every day. She especially cherished the moments spent building forts with the little ones. She was a deeply committed family woman who truly loved her family unconditionally.
